Dr. Murthy has over 40 years of teaching, research and industrial experience in geotechnical engineering. For twelve years as both a faculty member at WVU Tech and the former West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, he has taught several graduate level courses including Advanced Foundations, Advanced Soil Mechanics, Earth Structures, Groundwater and Seepage, Pavement Design, and Highway Materials. Undergraduate courses taught at WVU Tech include Soil Mechanics, Foundation Design, Groundwater and Seepage, Engineering Materials, Reinforced Concrete, Civil Engineering Projects, Statics, Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Mechanics of Materials. Dr. Murthy has worked on over 60 geotechnical projects in Bangalore, India, and in Delaware, North Carolina, and West Virginia. His is very active in ASTM for the past 25 years and is currently Vice-Chairman of D18, which deals with standards and test methods for soils, rock, and geotextiles. His community service includes Rotary projects and hosting Gandhi Day every year.
